Background on Five Star Marquee Hire

James, founder and Director of Five Star Marquee Hire, conceived the business after moving back home with his parents. Clive, James’s dad, already ran an established and very successful catering equipment hire company; ‘At Your Service’.

To compliment his dad’s business, in 2011 James purchased his first marquee. Initially he ‘warehoused’ it, along with his growing collection of equipment, in his aunt’s garage. In the early days of the business James, then a full time carpet fitter, and his cousin Kev, a full time carpenter, would finish their day jobs and then drive to the client’s premises and set up the marquee.

With the garage at breaking point, the boys moved into a rented office, which they continued to fill with more and more hire equipment. James eventually gave up the day job and brought in Tom and subsequently Martyn, leaving Kev to work whenever they need an extra pair of hands (usually in the summer).
When asked what makes Five Star Marquee Hire stand out from the other marquee companies, James said “We are all driven by our self-imposed five star standard! To achieve this, we all believe that the key to standing out from the competition, is firstly to have a real understanding of the customers’ needs and expectations, that way we just can’t disappoint. But, just as important, is that we believe in taking care of our equipment, as we want every event to be five star”.
James continued, “When a client wants to hire a marquee or some equipment, it is either myself, Tom or Martyn (now like brothers) who meets or talks directly with them. It is important that we really get to the heart of what the client wants to achieve from their event. Then when we set up, they will be delighted with our service,, as five star is in the company name, – so our reputation really depends on us getting it right every time!”

How easy is it to book a marquee?

It has never been easier to hire a marquee and its contents. From booking your marquee to organising toilets and generators, we will manage the whole installation. We understand no two marquee events are quite the same, so all that we ask from you is to think about the practicalities, that might include:
– When is the event planned for?
– How many guests for the day event?
– How many guests for the evening event?
– Are you planning on having a dance floor?
– Are you planning on including a band?
– Do you require an area for catering and, if so, what style of food will be served?
– What are the timescales for erection and dismantling of the marquee?
– What power requirements will you need? For example catering, the band, interior and exterior lighting ,and of course, heating which can require a large amount of power.
– Is there sufficient access to the proposed marquee site for our vehicles?
